My roommate Sari is leaving town next week for the month and her birthday is the weekend after mine so we decided to celebrate both of our birthdays this weekend. After a run in the early A.M., I went with Sari to a place called The Bongo Room for breakfast. They only do breakfast and brunch and are packed on the weekends so it wasn’t too bad since it was Friday. They serve some crazy interesting things like Carrot Cake Pancakes with CreamCheese Vanilla Sauce or Red Velvet Pancakes with Vanilla Sauce or Banana Bacon FlapJacks. So we decided to try them out. So delicious but super sweet and rich. We had to walk around afterward while our bodies tried to digest the dough balls sitting inside our bellies. Good thing I ran 7 miles that morning. Following our breakfast/brunch we walked to the new tattoo shop in the neighborhood. No…I didn’t get another one but am seriously considering….it just might be one of my day activities this month so stay tuned:) The sun was blasting with a slight breeze so after our walk I went out on the balcony and caught a few rays for the afternoon. My yoga addiction continues and at 3:30 I picked up my friend Jamie for a 4 o’clock class up north. It totally kicked my butt, maybe because I went for a run, ate a stack of pancakes, laid in the sun and then tried to continue strength training for an hour and a half in a 105 degree heated room... but once I got passed the feeling of wanting to throw up with 20 minutes left to go I felt great. Sounds sooo appealing doesnt it :) After my second shower of the day, Sari and I got all dolled up and headed out on the town. We caught the bus to the end of the Magnificent Mile and went to dinner at the swanky RL (Ralph Lauren). We felt a little hoity toity with all the yacht club members and diamond encrusted high maintenance elegance surrounding us. It made for great people watching and conversation. We enjoyed great service, small plates, a bottle of crisp white wine and a surprise birthday dessert from our waiters. The night was still young so we walked up to an area called the Viagra triangle to check out the scenery and have a couple drinks. Well, once you get there, there really isn’t a question to why they call it that. The Mercedes, Jags, and Porches’ line the streets and everyone is walking around all hoochied out. We attempted to join the crowd. After lots of pictures, a few drinks, and some chatting with the local crowd, we accomplished our goal of going out on the town and were safely home around 12:30. Thanks to our cab driver with the lead foot.
